Punjab Origin Player Eligibility Rules
Guidelines, criteria, and document requirements for participation in the Punjab Games.
1 Purpose
The Punjab Games are conducted to promote sport, culture, and community participation among Australians with Punjabi heritage and ancestry connected to the historical Punjab region.
2 Definition of Punjab Origin
For the purpose of these rules, a person of Punjab origin includes individuals whose family ancestry originates from the historical Punjab region, including present-day:
Players may belong to any religion, faith, or community.
3 Player Eligibility
A player is eligible to participate if they satisfy at least ONE of the following criteria:
A. Punjabi Name
The player has a commonly recognized Punjabi first name or surname.
Note: The Organising Committee may request additional information if a name alone does not clearly establish eligibility.
B. Parent of Punjab Origin
At least one parent is of Punjab origin. (Provide Parent Passport with place of birth)
C. Grandparent of Punjab Origin
At least one grandparent is of Punjab origin. (Grandparent Passport with Place of Birth)
4 Acceptable Documents
Only the following documents will be accepted:
Documents may be requested for the player, parent, or grandparent to establish family connections.
Providing false or misleading information may result in disqualification. Anyone providing forged documents will be reported to Police.
5 Eligibility Review
The Organising Committee may request additional information where eligibility cannot be clearly established.
Disputed applications may be referred to an Eligibility Committee, whose decision shall be final.
6 Final Authority
The Organising Committee reserves the right to verify information and determine player eligibility to protect the integrity and cultural purpose of the Punjab Games.
